Wonderful goat farm out in the polder. Definitely worth visit after visit.
And it's free!
Pony rides and bottles of milk to feed the kids (goat variety!) can be purchased.
There is a nice restaurant which sells pancakes and simple sandwiches. You can also eat a pack lunch on picknick benches outside.
Great indoor play area in Leiderdorp. Three sections for different ages. Kids parties can be catered for.
(Tip: You cannot bring your own food and the food available is not very healthy, try to eat at home or take a packed lunch to eat in the car)
This is a lovely little farm which offers (currently for free) a playground, toy cars, sheep, goat, rabbit and guinea pig petting. There are many other animals to see and you can arrange to have pony rides or children's parties.
There is also a nice café nearby for coffee and lunch.
A short walk from Leiden Train station. This great natural history museum is currently being rennovated. A part of the museum is open for animated dinosaur exhibiation. Though many of the interactive exhibits are aimed at older children 6+, there is still lots for little ones to see (pep talk beforehand required to avoid scary dinosaur dreams!)
Right next to the bus stop (46 and 45 in the direction of Den Haag), this is a great little place to visit on rainy days.
Tropical butterflies and small animals e.g. fish, snakes, caimen crocodile
Pack lunches may be eaten on the indoor terrace.
A year pass is not expensive.
Several members have recommended visiting here. Something going on throughout the year. "Lovely orchards, a play park and lots of yummy local produce in the farm shop. The cheese platter was so good we oprdered a second one! They organise some fairs and apple picking days so it's worth keeping an eye on the website e.g. 1st may Bloesemfeest". Thanks Kate for the recommendation.
Thanks to Kate for this, it looks brilliant! "A Dutch lady organises a parent child activity every Wednesday and Friday morning from 9.30-12.30, plus extra activities in the school holidays. The kids get to brush and ride on Shetland ponies, pet rabbits, lambs and chicks and there is a friendly pig wandering around. My two love it".
With lovely warm pools of different depths, this is great for all ages.
For little ones/babies visit on a sunday morning between 10.00-12.00 for the extra warm (34oC) shallow pool. Don't forget the armbands!
Two of our members are in this choir based in Den haag (15 min drive away).
Currently looking for International Sopranos or Altos, and Tenors or Basses of any nationality.
The choir practices weekly and performs two classical concerts per year in the Summer and Winter, and holds a (non-classical) fun concert in the Spring.
A very friendly club with members of all ages.
I often visit here with the kids for a quick coffee while they play in the playground (no membership required for that!).
Tip: The carpark outside the club is an excellent place for little ones to practice cycling.
